client/ boss/ investor to get a much better idea of what the finished project should be.

 initial document given to key members of the production team, includes enough detail so the team has an idea of what they're making
 used as a basis for all other pre production, documents by the production team 
 details of narrative, resource requirements, budget limitations, timeline of production 
 SWOT analysis
 produced early in production to asses: what ideas are viable, what limitations the project might face in terms of resources & personnel, may also be produced later in pre production e.g a location or casting role.
